Ghana “We face neither East nor West; We face forward”| Nkrumah’s Ideology is needed…

Today April 27th, 2012 marks the 40th year since the death of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the father of African Nationalism. Nkrumah preached a lot about African unity as Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King and all the great legends you can think of. Need I say more, today, Ghanaians around the world need to reflect on who we are as children of a great Nation, our History, our Independence, our Culture and Greatness We have achieved on the map. From the fastest growing economy in the world to the most stabilized country in Africa. The current fear and tension that has risen around the upcoming election in Ghana, needs proper and appropriate attention from leaders, media groups and all citizens to bring about a peaceful and yet again another successful elections. We ought to remember tribalism only brings division, and division brings interest to our natural resources, that will run our wealth dry and poor. “We face neither East nor West; We face forward” so together regardless of tribe , culture or religion, let us protect our Motherland. Other African Nations and the diaspora look to us as leaders, as a symbol of a democracy. “What will be Nkrumah speech today, if he stood on the old podium of March 6th 1957?

While you think, I will leave you with this….

The clock ticking
I’m still thinking
Is it too late to raise Nkrumah from his coffin
Ideology still missing
Tribalism war they’re calling
Political violence blood shedding
I’ll rather bite the bullet that assassinated Kennedy
Than to divide the beauty of my mixed-ethnic family

My eyes starts twitching
Child soldiers rising
Bullets starts ringing
See the whole country running
Stampede, bodies falling
Another innocent man dying
Vultures feed on corpse while the kid sit starving
Can you see the clear picture that I’m painting

The clock ticking
Mothers start crying
Preachers start preaching
Imams start praying
Activist start marching
Musicians start singing
Teachers start teaching
Leaders start leading

A moment of silence

Respect is earned through true governing
Remember God first and our neighbours we will be loving
United we stand divided we will be falling
Ghana we’ve sailed too long to see the Blackstar line sinking
I’ll be a fool to bury my head in the sand without speaking
War on another brother is dishonour to the red flag meaning
Selling our souls for gold colonialism we will just be bringing
Yen ara Asa si ni is the green flag meaning

Today the clock is still ticking
but with calm winds whistling
A voice I hear saying
“At long last, the battle has ended!
And thus, Ghana, your beloved country is free forever!”
Remember, we are the Blackstar united.
